Dental inlays and onlays are tooth coloured restorations used to repair rear teeth that have a mild to moderate amount of decay. Rather than using a simple filling or crown, we can repair damage to the tooth’s biting surface by using either an inlay or an onlay.

Inlays lie within the cusps (bumps) on the chewing surface of the tooth. They can often replace large fillings and can increase the longevity of your teeth.

Onlays are more extensive than inlays, covering one or more cusps.  They are often used when teeth show extensive cavities, have large defective fillings or have been damaged by decay or trauma.
